Why does this item show to be in-stock, but I can’t check out?
Depending on stock level and location of the inventory, certain shipping options may not be available for some products.
In some instances, we may be able to make an exception and transfer a bike to another Mack Cycle retail location for pickup. Additional shipping charges may be applicable for cross-market transfers.
If I place an order for a bike, how long will it take to ship?
If I place an order for a bike, how long will it take to ship?
Thanks so much for your interest in ordering a bike through Mack Cycle!
Our fulfillment center staff is working as hard as possible to ensure that every bike ordered is shipped out in a timely manner. Here are a couple scenarios to keep in mind for the estimated time of arrival (ETA) of your specific bike order.
There are a couple factors that will affect the time it will take for the bike you are interested in to ship out:
- Smaller Kids Bikes or Public Brand Bikes: If the bike you are interested in is a smaller kids bike or a Public brand bike and free unassembled shipping is presented as an option at checkout, then these bikes should ship out in approximately 3-4 business days. With this shipping method the bike will be shipped in its original factory box without being pre-assembled.
- In-Stock Bikes with "Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly": For in-stock bikes where the shipping method will be automatically selected as “Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly”, the processing time is typically 5-6 business days. These bikes often need to be “transferred” from one of our facilities to our fulfillment center where they will undergo the build, tuning, and packing procedure.
- Special Order Bikes: For “Special Order” bikes, we do our best to set reasonable expectations for timing on the listing for the bike, right above the “Special Order This Item” button that you will click to add the bike to your cart. These time frames can vary for each special order bike.
Please keep in mind that we do not have an option to ship bikes without using our “Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly” method. It is mandated by the manufacturers that we carry that every bike we sell gets professionally assembled and inspected prior to reaching your doorstep. Once a bike is assembled, packing the bike safely for transit takes time and our proprietary packing methods will protect the bike as best as possible from damage in transit.
While it does add a few more days to the processing time you can rest assured that reassembly will be as easy as possible and that all of your applicable warranties will be in effect for you as the original owner of the bike.

One master tracking number
If we shipped you multiple packages under one master tracking number, you can use the link we sent in your email shipping confirmation to track the other package(s). If you use the link from the confirmation, it will take you to the carrier’s website, and you’ll be able to view the status of each package under the multi-piece shipment tab (pictured below is an example of FedEx).
The green status bar indicates delivery, while the purple shows a package waiting to be delivered.
From here, you will be able to see which package(s) has been delivered, and where the other package(s) are in their journey. Please note that other carrier’s portals may not look identical, but the practice will be similar.
Split shipment
If we had to split the shipment to be fulfilled from multiple locations, you will have received a confirmation email for each shipment, as well as which items were shipped on each one. These respective emails will have different links to unique tracking information that will allow you to see when each shipment is set to arrive.

How can I have the bike shipped unassembled and ensure that I don't get charged GLA?
How can I have the bike shipped unassembled and ensure that I don't get charged GLA?
With few exceptions, bike manufacturers require that bikes are built and tuned before being shipped to customers. This ensures that your bike arrives with minimal work needed to start riding.
Very few bikes are permitted by the manufacturer to be shipped in their factory boxes, and the terms of warranties require professional assembly, so we are not able to ship your bike unassembled. However, wouldn’t it be better for peace of mind and manufacturer warranty coverage to have us put the bike together for you so when you receive it, there is almost no delay for excitement? It's the best of both worlds for one low price.
It’s way more fun to receive a bike that’s been assembled and tuned to perfection. With our industry-leading Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly (GLA), we take care of the expert work for you. That means you don’t have to be a rocket surgeon or lose a precious day of riding while your local bike mechanic puts it together. Also, it gives peace of mind to the rider knowing a professional assembled the bike.
Our skilled technicians unpack and assemble your bike, tune it to perfection, then very carefully re-package and ship it to your front door. All the hard work is done, all you have to do is put a few parts back together. When you receive it, simply follow the instructions in our short assembly video and take it outside for that magical first bonding moment. This process should be “box-to-bike lane” in 15 minutes.
We do offer promotions for FREE Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly from time to time, so if you'd like to stay in the loop regarding our promotions, please subscribe to get special offers, free giveaways, and once-in-a-lifetime deals. Just enter your email on the bottom left side of the home screen on mackcycle.com where it says ‘sign up and save’.
How much is shipping?
How much is shipping?
For most orders, shipping is free! However, we do charge a $79 fee to cover the time and materials of assembly. Please see full shipping details below!
We offer free FedEx ground shipping for orders above $99 within the contiguous US. Orders under $49 have a flat rate of $9 for shipping, and wire bead tires ship for a flat fee of $20 due to the size package they must be shipped in.
If you live outside of the contiguous US or would like to have your order expedited, please contact us directly at info@mikesbikes.com for an accurate shipping quote. Provide as much order information as possible, such as manufacturer SKU, zip code, state, etc.
Certain exclusions apply: cargo bikes, tandem bikes, and wire bead tires do not qualify for free shipping due to size. Cannondale, Santa Cruz, Cervelo, Gazelle, Pivot, and *other bikes ship for FREE, but there will be a $79 Gold Label Assembly added at checkout (reg. $100). This fee covers professional bike build and re-packaging by our certified Wheelsmith technicians.
Unfortunately, this fee can not be waived under any circumstances. Manufacturer agreements only permit a limited number of bikes to be shipped in their original factory boxes. Additionally, warranty terms stipulate that professional assembly is required, therefore, shipping them in the factory box is not possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Please note that some items may be subject to additional shipping and handling charges because of size and weight. If this is the case with your order, we will notify you first for your approval.
Need help with assembly?
Bicycles with Gold Label Assembly are fully assembled and adjusted by qualified technicians at our distribution center prior to shipment. Certain components (wheels, seat posts, pedals, handlebars) are disassembled for transport. As a result, the customer must assemble these on the bicycle after receipt of the bicycle with the aid of the information and tools supplied and the videos provided by us in part on our website or, if necessary, by contacting our sales support agents at + 1 (305) 661-8363.

Return shipping is not free for standard returns. If you need to return something and want to know how much return shipping will be, reach out!
Last Updated: March 24, 2024
The reason for the partial refund is because we do not offer free return shipping, so the return shipping label cost was deducted from your refund. Please see our return policy for more details:

Do you offer exchanges instead of a return?
Do you offer exchanges instead of a return?
While we don’t have an automated way for processing exchanges instead of refunds for shipped products, we have some tips to make the process as smooth as possible.
Follow the steps below to initiate an exchange for your shipped product:
- Step 1: Fill out our online return request form for the item you want to return or exchange. Our team will then follow up with further instructions.
- Step 2: You must then place a new order for the item you wish to swap to.
- Step 3: Send back the item you don't want to keep. Once we receive it, we'll process it as a return and refund the original order amount to the applicable payment method.
Special circumstances:
If your original order was made during a promotion or you have other unique circumstances, feel free to reach out to us directly. We can assist in making sure the price of your replacement item matches your original purchase.
In-store exchange (if applicable):
If you're located near one of our store locations, we can more easily accommodate an exchange. As long as the item being returned qualifies under our return policy, simply bring it into the store. Our staff will assist in facilitating the exchange, depending on inventory availability.
Do you offer free returns?

While there are some exceptions, return shipping is not free, though we're happy to provide a label at our cost which will typically be less expensive than shipping it yourself. Please see below for more details!
If you return a bike or gear, we'll deduct the cost of return shipping and any applicable restocking fees from your refund.
- Bicycles may be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery.
- Gear may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery.
Shipping and assembly fees are non-refundable for both outbound and return shipments. If the item you are returning originally shipped for free, we will refund your payment less the shipping cost.
While this may seem excessive, it covers all costs associated with returning a bicycle, including inspection, labor, warehouse handling, paperwork, and depreciation. However, we gladly ship exchanged orders free of charge.
Damaged Items:
People aren’t the only ones who get road rash. Shipping and assembly costs will be refunded if you receive an item that is defective or damaged. How do I unsubscribe from marketing emails?
The fastest way to unsubscribe from receiving future emails is to simply click the "unsubscribe" link that is in the email you received. That will promptly remove you from our mailing list, and ensure you don't receive any emails in the future.
However, some email service providers may have a display threshold, causing emails exceeding a certain file size to be subject to "email clipping," which might hide the unsubscribe link. In such cases, please select "View Entire Message" to reveal the link.
For text messages, simply send a text with the word "STOP", and that will stop further messages from being sent. Please keep in mind that it can sometimes take 24-48 hours for your information to be purged, but this is the fastest way to take care of it.

Why can't I use my Loyalty Program points to pay for a draft order?
Why can't I use my Loyalty Program points to pay for a draft order?
Using your Loyalty Points on an invoice sent to you by a member of the Mike’s Bikes Team is easy! Simply let the in-store sales associate you are working with know that you would like to use them, or reach out to our Sales Support team by emailing info@mikesbikes.com. We can manually subtract the points from your order total, leaving you the balance to pay with our many payment options.
Step 1:
As the invoice (cart) sent to you has a different web URL than the cart your loyalty points code was generated for, you must have them manually deducted from your account and subtracted from your order by our online support team. However, taking care of this is easy! First, decide how many points you would like to use.
Step 2:
If you are in a retail store, inform a sales associate that you want to use your points with your purchase. For online orders, email info@mikesbikes.com with the amount of points you would like to use. Your available points will be listed on the blue widget in the lower left corner of your screen, when logged into your account on MikesBikes.com.
Step 3:
Once notified, a Mike's Bikes team member will manually discount the points from your account and email you with an updated cart (invoice) to pay your balance. Please be sure to confirm the new total is correct and that the correct amount of points has been applied to your total.
Step 4:
Pay the balance through one of our many payment methods. You will receive a confirmation email once your order is complete.

For eGift Cards, you can choose to enter either your own email address or the recipient’s when checking out:
- If you enter your own email address, you will receive the order confirmation email immediately and you will receive the email with the card number once the order is processed (within 24 hours). You would then need to forward the email with the card number to the recipient.

Additionally if needing to look up the purchase of the gift card in the future, the sale will be recorded under the recipient's customer profile.
Forphysical gift cards, we recommend entering the recipient's physical shipping address and then using your personal information for the email as well as the billing address. This way you will be able to keep track of the order and receive the tracking number once the card ships out.

Assembly & Maintenance
Which basic tools do I need for bicycle maintenance?
Which basic tools do I need for bicycle maintenance?
Being able to perform some basic maintenance on your bike is a good time saver, and is important for being able to make sure you have a safe bike to ride. See some of the options below!
Like every machine, your bicycle will require ongoing maintenance and upkeep to ensure it continues to work well. Having a small toolkit on hand will help keep your bike in good working order. See our recommended tools to start with below.
Tools for tightening and loosening
If you're only going to have one tool, go with the good 'ol Y wrench (or 3-way as some call them), these are three-sided and have 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm Allen. This tool is small so it doesn't take up a ton of space, and still works for most stems, handlebars, seatpost clamp, and a lot of other little things on your bike. If you want a more in-depth set of Allen wrenches that will handle just about any bolt on a bike, consider THIS kit, which has everything from 2mm up to 10mm. Most bikes also have a few Torx head bolts as well these days, and usually, these are T10, T25, or T30. Thankfully, Park Tool has THIS handy tool that has all three of those sizes in one.
Pumps
A pump for your tires is essential to have at home. It helps with checking pressure and pumping your tires to your preferred pressure before you go for a ride, as well as re-inflating when you're fixing a flat! The two main things to look for in a pump are as follows: one that will work on either a Schrader or Presta valve without needing to buy any adapters, and the choice between plastic versus aluminum construction. Plastic pumps will wear out faster but are cheaper, while aluminum is more expensive but lasts longer.
- Good: Bikesmart Powerflate 2, mostly plastic construction, inexpensive and will get the job done.
- Better: Bikesmart Turboflate 2, which features aluminum construction for better durability.
- Best: Giant Control Tower Boost, constructed entirely out of aluminum, with a large gauge for easy reading, and an integrated air chamber that can be pressurized and released to help seat tubeless tires.
Want to see more? See all our pumps HERE
Don't forget tire levers to go with your pump either! See those HERE.
Cleaners and Chain Lubes
A clean bike is a happy bike, and keeping it clean when it gets dirty, and keeping the chain lubed will help keep the bike and its components running smoothly and prevent premature wear. There are plenty of cleaners out there that can be used, but it’s important to ensure they won’t corrode aluminum (as basic Simple Green can). Avoid using a pressure washer and spraying cleaners on brake rotors or pads. After washing your bike, allow it to dry before lubricating the chain to prevent rusting. See below for some of our favorite cleaners and lubes, and see HERE for everything we carry.
Muc-Off Nano Tech Bike Cleaner: This cleaner is biodegradable, free from acids, CFCs, and solvents, and it’s alkaline based so you can clean away with a guilt-free conscience, and it even smells good!
For chain lubrication, one go-to chain lube has been the Dumonde Tech Pro X Chain lube. It goes on a little on the thick side, lasts a decent amount of time, and makes for a very quiet drivetrain.
We don't recommend using your toothbrush for bike cleaning, so we have a selection of brushes! See them HERE.
These basic tools will help ensure you have some essentials at home to fix a flat, a wheel, and other basics.

What maintenance intervals are recommended for my bike?
What maintenance intervals are recommended for my bike?
Riding a bike is fun! But if you want to continue having fun and keep your bike out of the shop for long periods of time, you'll need to ensure it's well-maintained.
Why? For starters your bike will be:
- Less likely to have a mechanical issue while on a ride
- Your bike will be as efficient as it can be, helping you ride longer and faster
- Helps keep your drivetrain free of squeaks and shifting smoothly
- Prevents your bike and its components from wearing out prematurely
With these recommended service intervals, your bike should stay in good working order and be dependable for you. For our local customers buying new bikes from us, we offer our 5-Year Maintenance Plans, which cover the cost of most standard maintenance (see our webpage for the plan to see what's included). This is a nice option for a reasonable cost upfront; you save money down the line on service and have the convenience of letting us take care of everything for you.
My bike did not come with instructions, can you provide any?
My bike did not come with instructions, can you provide any?
Unfortunately, in this digital age, few manufacturers still produce physical instructions or manuals. However, most of the manufacturers we carry will offer a digital owner’s manual on their company websites to reference.
For instructions on reassembling your bike if it was shipped with our “Wheelsmith Gold Label Assembly” method, we have a video that can be found here: Reassembly Instructions
Why didn't my bike come with pedals?
Why didn't my bike come with pedals?
Depending on what kind of bike you purchased, it may not come with pedals as original equipment from the manufacturer. Pedals can be a very personal choice, with numerous options to choose from! It’s best to check the listing for your bike. You can also feel free to reach out if you’re in doubt. If it was supposed to come with pedals, and we somehow forgot, we're happy to take care of it. Just let us know!
What does 'Ready To Ride' assembly mean?
What does 'Ready To Ride' assembly mean?
Your bike will be 99% built and finely tuned, with just a few simple steps to follow before you’re ready to take it out for a spin!
Our expert mechanics have fine tuned every PUBLIC bike before carefully packing for Ready to Ride shipping.
We include all the tools and instructions you need to get your bike on the road. Just tighten the pedals and handlebars, adjust the seat, and hit the streets. Easy for even the most most mechanically un-inclined. It actually takes longer to remove the foam padding that safely protects your bike inside your box than to do the final easy assembly steps.
Follow this link to find our assembly video.
Why didn't my bike come with an owner's manual?
Why didn't my bike come with an owner's manual?
We include every small part and all documentation that is sent to us with the bike. If yours didn't have a manual, it's more than likely because that specific vendor chose to put their manuals online. This is a more environmentally friendly practice, you’ll never lose them, and they are always readily available, wherever you are.

How do I get warranty service if I don't live near one of your locations?
How do I get warranty service if I don't live near one of your locations?
Warranty considerations can vary among different manufacturers. As the original owner of the bike or product purchased from Mike’s Bikes, you will have all applicable warranties for your product.
Most manufacturers will require a product to be inspected in person by an authorized retailer to determine if a warranty claim is applicable. This typically involves visiting a local bike shop that is a dealer of the specific product. We can provide you with a PDF receipt for your purchase, which you can bring with you as your original proof of purchase.
For many components and electrical systems on bikes that we carry, warranties can be processed by local bike shops that carry the brand of the component, even if they are unrelated to the manufacturer of the bike itself. Again, we can provide you with a PDF receipt for your purchase as your original proof of purchase.
If there are no bike shops within a reasonable distance to assist you, please let us know, and we can help work with you and the manufacturer toward a solution.
How do I register my bike for warranty?
How do I register my bike for warranty?
Mike’s Bikes ensures that the world-class brands we sell have the highest standards in regard to their warranties. To register your bike, it's best to do so directly through the manufacturer's website.
Whether you purchased your bike through our website or in one of our retail stores, Mike’s Bikes is an authorized dealer of the brands we sell, and we are here to assist you however we can.
In order to register your product, please find the steps below!
Step 1:
The first step to register your new bike is to verify the warranty through the manufacturer's website. Visit their website and confirm the warranty for your specific product. Check what the warranty covers, and see if they offer an online registration option (which they almost certainly do). For example:
- Santa Cruz: Bike registration
- Cervélo: Bike registration
Step 2:
Manufacturers usually require proof of purchase, serial number, size, model of the product you are registering, as well as the registered owner's details, so make sure to have those handy and enter them accurately.
Step 3:
Once submitted, keep any confirmation or documentation provided in case you need it in the future.

We don't offer bike insurance, but you can add your bike to your homeowners or renters insurance policy. Your bike also comes with warranties against manufacturing defects; register it for coverage.
Mike's Bikes does not currently collaborate with any bicycle insurance programs. In our experience the best way to insure your new bike will be to add it to your homeowners or renters insurance policy. Many insurance providers offer coverage for theft under these policies.
Apart from adding insurance coverage for your bike, it comes with various warranties against manufacturing defects, each with specific terms from the manufacturer. You can find more information on registering your bike here: How do I register my bike for warranty?

Do your stores work on e-bikes not bought from you?
Do your stores work on e-bikes not bought from you?
While we can perform general maintenance on any bike, such as brake and derailleur adjustments, we cannot service the e-bike specific components on most ebikes from brands we don't carry.
The components of an electric bike play a crucial role not just in its longevity but also in ensuring your safety. Off-brand or direct-to-consumer e-bikes, typically priced lower, may have proprietary parts or require diagnostic software that we do not have access to.
As a result, our comprehensive service packages exclude certain e-bikes and motors not sold at Mike’s Bikes. We cannot take on the liability of working on e-bikes we do not carry. Call your local store for more information.

Why are one or more of the parts on my bike different from the spec sheet?
Why are one or more of the parts on my bike different from the spec sheet?
While brands spec their bikes with certain components, at some times they need to ship bikes to dealers with different components due to availability. While not ideal, if spec is changed it will always be for parts of equal value and performance.
In the bicycle industry, suppliers and factories may change specs without notice. This is because bicycles consist of numerous parts sourced from various vendors. Parts are sometimes updated to the most current production generation/iteration or changed based on their availability due to supply chain constraints.
This approach allows manufacturers to maintain a steady inventory flow throughout the year, rather than potentially facing delays of weeks to months or even a year for specific parts. For this reason, we do include the following disclaimer on every product page:
*Product specifications are subject to change without notice.
We make every effort to maintain current and accurate information in our online catalog. We appreciate your understanding should any of the information provided by our manufacturers be incorrect and regret any inconvenience such mistakes may create. Please bring any errors you may find to our attention by sending us an e-mail at info@mikesbikes.com.
