What is S-Works?

Sandy MACK |

The main differences between Specialized and S-Works bikes:

  • Frame Material: S-Works uses a premium carbon layup (11r) for lighter, stiffer frames, while standard Specialized frames use lower-grade carbon (6r-10r)
  • Components: S-Works bikes feature top-tier components like Shimano Dura-Ace or SRAM Red, while lower-tier bikes may use mid-range parts
  • Performance: S-Works is optimized for professional-level performance with better power transfer and advanced aerodynamics
  • Price and Exclusivity: S-Works models are significantly more expensive and sold through select dealers

S-Works: Represents Specialized's highest tier, designed for professional-level performance with the lightest frames (e.g., 11r carbon), advanced technologies, and top-tier components like Shimano Dura-Ace or SRAM Red.

Specialized (non-S-Works): Includes lower tiers like Pro, Expert, and Comp, which use slightly heavier carbon (e.g., 10r or below) and mid-range components, offering excellent performance at a more accessible price.
